Where to Donate in Pasadena, Pomona & Duarte — And Why It Matters More Than You Think
Every year, Americans discard more than 11 million tons of textiles. Most of it ends up in a landfill. The clothes that no longer fit, the furniture that didn't survive the move, the kitchen items from a kitchen you no longer use — all of it has somewhere to go. And in the San Gabriel Valley, that somewhere is ACTS Thrift.
If you've been asking where to donate clothes in Pasadena, or looking for a donation drop-off in Pomona or Duarte, here's what you need to know: ACTS makes it easy, your donation goes further than you probably think, and you'll walk away with a discount on your next visit for doing it.
The Problem With "Just Throwing It Away"
More than 68 pounds of clothing and textiles per person ends up in U.S. landfills every year — even as roughly 95% of it could be reused or recycled. Fast fashion has made disposal feel routine. It isn't.
The good news: the solution is simple. Donating gently used clothing, shoes, home goods, furniture, and books to a nonprofit thrift store like ACTS keeps items in use, supports your neighbors, and reduces the environmental cost of how we consume. Each secondhand item that finds a new home instead of a landfill saves an average of 8.4 pounds of carbon emissions and 89 gallons of water.
That's not a rounding error. That's a real number with real impact — and it starts with you cleaning out your closet.
What ACTS Accepts
ACTS accepts a wide range of gently used items across all three locations:
Clothing and shoes for men, women, and children
Home goods — dishes, cookware, small appliances, décor
Furniture (call ahead for larger items)
Books, games, and toys
Electronics in working condition
Items should be clean, functional, and in usable condition. If you wouldn't feel comfortable gifting it to a neighbor, it's probably not the right fit. But if it's got life left in it, we want it.

Your Donation Funds Real Programs in Your Community
ACTS isn't just a place to drop off stuff you don't need anymore. It's a funding mechanism for six organizations serving some of the most vulnerable people in the San Gabriel Valley and Inland Empire:
Door of Hope — housing and recovery support for families experiencing homelessness
FrontSight Military Ministry — services for veterans and military families
Obria Medical Clinics — community healthcare access
Hoving Home — long-term recovery housing for women
Inland Valley Hope Partners — anti-poverty programs
Pacific Lifeline — domestic violence prevention and support
100% of ACTS net proceeds go to these organizations. When you donate a bag of clothing to our Pomona location, you're not filling a rack. You're helping fund services that change people's lives.
Spring Cleaning Is Coming — Make It Count
The spring cleaning season is one of the busiest donation periods of the year, and for good reason. Closets get cleared, garages get organized, and years of accumulated stuff finally gets dealt with. The question is where it goes.
At ACTS, we make that part simple. Bring it in, we'll sort it, and the community benefits. No complicated intake process, no scheduling hassle. Whether you're doing a full-house clean-out before a move, clearing out clothes that no longer fit, or finally dealing with the boxes you've been ignoring since last year — ACTS is ready.
Donating Is the Easiest Part
You've already done the hard work of deciding what to let go of. We'll take it from there. Bring your items to any ACTS location, receive your donor discount for your next visit, and know that what you gave is going directly back into the community you live in.
It's a simple cycle. Donate, shop, give back. And it starts with whatever you're not using anymore.
