Sales Floor Personnel

Sales Floor Supervisor

Sales floor supervisor reports directly to the store manager and is responsible for:

  • Working with sales floor personnel including training and scheduling of all shift employees.
  • Merchandising, markdown and ragging out of sales floor merchandise. This also involves maintaining sales floor equipment including cash registers, HVAC units, credit card machines, sales floor phone system and PA system, time clock and cleaning equipment.
  • At the end of cashier’s shifts, the Sale Floor Supervisor will assign and supervise the counting out of all cashier register drawers, the Z/X readings of cash registers and the clearing out and daily deposit of credit card machines

Other management level duties may also be assigned to this individual.

Cashier

Cashiers are the stores direct connection to the customers.  It is important that cashiers always conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times and display the Christian values associated with All Out Caring and its mission in the community.  The store cashiers perform a variety of functions including;

  • cashiering
  • stocking
  • straightening and marking down.

Cashiers must perform their job quickly and efficiently in order to accomplish all that is necessary each day.  They must also be comfortable handling cash and operating a cash register/credit card machines and be very detail oriented.

Back Room Personnel

  1. Sorter
    The sorter is the first person in the processing department to evaluate the incoming merchandise.  It is the sorter’s job to perform an initial evaluation of all raw merchandise and categorize the items in the departments with which they will be further evaluated and eventually cleaned, tagged, hung and priced for stocking.
  2. Hanger
    The hangers are the second phase of clothing evaluation.  The garments are sorted by the sorters into specific categories; men’s, women’s and children’s clothing.  From this point the hanger will further evaluate the garment, hang the item on the appropriate hanger and tag the item.  The garment will then be placed on a hanger rack for pricing.
  3. Warehouseman
    The processing warehouseman is the go to man in the production process.  The warehouseman keeps all phases of the backroom operating optimally.  He maintains a constant flow of raw merchandise to the sorters and removes trash and clothing rag-outs.  He moves the sorted merchandise to the appropriate prepper’s, tagger’s, hangers, and pricer’s.  The warehouseman must work in perfect harmony with everyone in the backroom.  He must also be able to accept direction from the store manager with regards to processing adjustments and prioritizing needed merchandise.  The warehouseman also may assist the sales floor associates with customer service calls if needed.
  4. Bins tagger
    Bins tagger preps all sorted men’s, women’s and children’s accessories including:  Socks, belts, hats and caps, undergarments, scarves and neck ties, purses, wallets, beauty aids such as lotions, cosmetics and wigs.  The bins tagger/prepper assesses each item for sell-ability and cleans and tags the item appropriately. All soft goods such as socks and undergarments must be tagged with color coded tags while all hard goods such as cosmetics and lotion bottles must be tagged with color coded stickers.
  5. Misc. Prepper/Tagger
    Miscellaneous (Misc) prepper and tagger will process thousands of items dailysuch as housewares, toys, books, collectibles, records/tapes.  Items will need to be evaluated for sale or disposed of in the trash.  Misc. preppers will clean and tag items and ready them for pricing.   6. Bins Hanger
    A bins hanger hangs all infant and toddler items size 6 and smaller. The bins hanger also hangs men’s and women’s and children’s underwear, sleep wear, uniforms, and costumes. The bins hanger will use a tagging gun to tag each items on a specified location on the garment.
  7. Electrical Tester/Prepper/Pricer
    Electrical processor tests/cleans/tags all incoming electrical items.  The electrical processor will handle all small appliances, battery operated items including toys, sporting goods, automotive items, computer items, hardware and tools, and audio equipment and must test all items for operation. The electrical processor will also price all items in this department so knowledge of items in this area is critical.
  8. Pricer
    Pricers must be very mobile in their jobs as well as capable to standing for long periods while they price the items on clothing racks .  This position requires reaching and pulling garments on a stocking rack and raising arms to a height of approximately 5 feet high in order to price garments.  It is repetitious movement is necessary throughout the day.  Pricers may also be required to stock their racks and priced items when necessary.  Pricers may perform a variety of other backroom jobs as necessary or directed by the store manager which could include sorting, tagging and hanging.
  9. Shoe Prepper
    The Shoe Prepper receives shoes from sorters and pairs them.  The Shoe Prepperthen re-assesses the quality and condition of all sorted shoes and either cleans and tags them or discards them.  If a pair is determined fit for sale it is then cleaned and tagged with the appropriate colored tag and sent to the pricer for pricing.
